What is Midnight Entertainment?

The seeds of Midnight Entertainment were planted over 20 years ago when co-founders
Jim Yelton and Eric Borchert met in high school. Sharing an interest in comics, Sci-Fi,
working in local theater, and Monty Python, the two became fast friends. Jim, a budding
writer, saw Eric, a growing artist, as a welcome collaborator for a comic book project he
had been thinking about. This initial project would utilize characters and concepts that
Jim would mold, twist, and reshape over the years into Midnight’s first graphic novel
series, the superhero drama Extra Ordinary.

Jim moved back to his hometown of St. Louis, MO after high school and would begin
working in a movie theater where he would meet the company’s third co-founder, Steve
Newton. Surprisingly, Newton also shared many of Jim and Eric’s common interests
including comics, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Monty Python. With Borchert being half-way
across the country, Yelton found Steve to be a surrogate collaborator as he refined the
superhero concept, creating new characters, new concepts, and generally taking the
idea from being a standard hero “team” book to something with deeper themes and
richer characters.

While never forgetting the superhero concept, Jim developed other story ideas,
eventually writing, directing, and producing an original Sci-Fi radio drama entitled The
Swindlers of Doom. The experience of creating Swindlers would energize Yelton to
finally pursue his dream of creating a company to create the genre projects he and his
friends had always talked about. And the first steps to make Midnight Entertainment a
reality were taken.

Now, the sparks of ideas from 20 years ago have grown into the fire of today. Midnight
Entertainment LLC was formed by Borchert, Newton, and Yelton in 2005 to produce
graphic novels, independent film, television, and online content in the genres of Sci-Fi,
Fantasy, Horror, and Heroic Drama. Midnight’s slate of projects relies heavily on the
graphic novel superhero series Extra Ordinary and adaptations of The Swindlers of
Doom, in both graphic novel form and as an illustrated screenplay of the proposed
Swindlers film.
